Frozenheim will definitely appeal to fans of Scandinavian mythology and Viking culture. A real-time strategy game with elements of a city-building simulator. It has excellent graphics, everything looks extremely realistic, the musical arrangement is also not far behind.
The game begins with the fact that, along with other Viking clans, you arrive in new lands. Everything could go quite well, but your ally, having come up with an excuse to force your troops to leave the village, robbed and burned it. We'll have to start all over again in order to succeed and be able to take revenge. You are at the head of the detachment to explore the area, collect resources, recruit allies. Over time, build a small settlement and begin to develop it.
When you start playing Frozenheim, the first thing to do is to choose the mode that suits you.
Total modes five:
- Campaign
- Battle against AI
- Online battle against other players
- Urban planning
- Survival
With the campaign, everything is clear, as well as with the two subsequent modes. Urban planning will allow you to focus only on the economic component, build and develop your settlement.
Survival is the same as city building, but with one difference. At certain intervals, your settlement will be attacked by hordes of enemies. With each wave, these attacks are getting stronger and it will be more difficult to survive.
In addition to the main story, there are many side quests in the campaign. By completing them, you can earn resources and gather a strong enough army.
The settlement develops in stages, as soon as you manage to build key buildings, make a choice how to further develop your town.
There are several types of resources in the game:
- Food
- Two types of ore, stone and swamp
- Honey
- Wood
Keep an eye on the happiness of the inhabitants of, only a happy population will allow you to build and upgrade all the necessary buildings.
Hold regular feasts, build religious objects, equip the burial places of fallen soldiers and everyone will be happy.
Food can be obtained in several ways. The most efficient way to build farms, but not without its drawbacks. In winter, farms stop providing provisions and it is better to accumulate supplies for the winter in advance.
Production buildings will need to be assigned workers in manual mode, do not expect these buildings to immediately begin to bring the necessary resources themselves.
There are two ways to win:
- The military accumulated strength and destroyed the enemy.
- Alternative - capturing all the key points, which are runic stones. Each of these stones will give your warriors special abilities. For example, it can speed up foresight on the map or strengthen the attack.
Combat mode is quite interesting. There are subtleties. Set up ambushes in dense forests. Or, under the cover of vegetation, sneak up close to the enemy's settlement and attack him suddenly. These tricks sometimes allow you to defeat an enemy with an army much stronger than yours.
