Game modes there are several. You can choose what you like best. Some modes will be available offline as soon as you download and install Astride, but some will require a constant Internet connection.
The game is under active development, and at the time of writing the text, the developers have not yet managed to implement everything they had in mind. At the time you are reading this text, the release may have already taken place and playing Astride has become even more interesting.
